Bond Racing partnerships provide unique ownership opportunities with family feel 09/24/2021
Ashley Miller
Created: September 22, 2021 11:47 PM
James and Tina Bond breed, train and own horses here in Saratoga Springs. During the pandemic, the Bonds came up with partnerships that give every day people ownership opportunities. Craig Allen has stake in Rinaldi and Giacosa, both of whom have wins at the Saratoga Race Course.
SARATOGA SPRINGS, N. Y. – It hadn’t been the most productive string of races for Rinaldi. While the 5-year-old gelding had come close in the last two, he had lost three consecutive starts for the first time in his career. But then the H. James Bond trainee had never run his best at the downstate tracks, where he’d made it into the winner’s circle just once in six tries.
Given the increasing popularity of racing partnerships, a new venture can struggle to find its niche and stand out in a crowded field of competitors.
It's certainly not easy, but sometimes a perfect storm of events can create a tremendous opportunity.
As an example, there's trainer James Bond and his wife, Tina, and their Bond Racing Stable. They faced overwhelming adversity last year during the COVID-19 pandemic. Yet through some wise business decisions and the help of some highly beneficial television advertisements, those dark days ultimately led to the bright reward of prosperity for them and created a platoon of new racehorse owners for the sport.
